Thermal springs of Ukraine – where to soak in hot water in Zakarpattia. Information on prices, infrastructure, accommodation.
I have gathered information about all thermal springs and resorts in Ukraine. I have visited Termal Star, Tepli Vody (Velyatyno), Kosyno, and Lumshory, so I can compare different styles and qualities of thermal baths.
To enjoy hot thermal baths, you don’t have to go abroad. Ukraine has many thermal resorts – for every taste and budget, where you can relax and get healthy in warm mineral springs.
Prices indicated for 2026.
Thermal Complex “Zhayvoronok”

Thanks to its geographical location, Berehove is protected from cold winds by a volcanic ridge. Therefore, this is the warmest region of Western Ukraine, where active underground processes occur (tectonic plates move, causing the formation of hot underground geysers).
Located in the town of Berehove, on the border with Hungary. “Zhayvoronok” operates two pools – outdoor and indoor, as well as a children’s area and a jacuzzi. The water in the thermal pools is 56-58 °C, so it is cooled down to a comfortable temperature. Emerging from underground, the thermal water oxidizes when in contact with oxygen, so it acquires a brown–rusty color. The specific smell of the thermal water is due to the presence of hydrogen sulfide, which, when it reaches the surface, oxidizes and immediately breaks down.
The pools have a flow-through water supply – the full water exchange cycle occurs in 1-3 days. The chemical composition of the mineral water disinfects the pools – microbes cannot survive in the salty water.
The thermal complex offers visitors a salt room, steam baths and saunas, a gym, relaxation in a jacuzzi filled with thermal water, and a course of massages at the spa center. The complex contains a cafe, restaurants, mini-bars, a beauty salon, and its own wine cellar presenting a fine wine collection.
Pool entry prices:
- Adults: 250 UAH – 2 hours, 300 UAH – 3 hours, full day – 450 UAH.
- Children: children up to 120 cm tall – free, children from 120 cm to 150 cm: 125 UAH – 2 hours, 150 UAH – 3 hours, full day – 225 UAH.

Kosyno Thermal Complex in Koson village

The wellness and recreation complex “Kosyno” is probably the best of all thermal complexes in Ukraine. It is located in a picturesque oak grove near the village of Koson, on the border with Hungary, 13 km from Berehove.
The thermal pools here have different water temperatures, the largest of them is designed as a bowl filled with a huge, seemingly floating tap with hot mineral water. The complex includes, apart from the main pool, seven “Royal bathhouses” and ice saunas, as well as a contrast bath “Kneipp“. The complex also has a cafe with traditional Hungarian cuisine, as well as Ukrainian dishes and traditional Italian pizza.
I really liked this complex – I was here at the beginning of May, so it was nice not only to swim in the warm water, but also to sunbathe on a lounger in the warm sunshine. If you want to relax here for a couple of days, I recommend staying at the hotel, which is also part of the thermal complex – Ivanchó Birtok≫. The price includes breakfasts, unlimited access to pools and baths, bathrobes and slippers.

Pools of the Kosyno thermal complex:
The thermal complex consists of eight various pools, each with its own name and water temperature.

Equipped with the highest fountain-illusion in the world with thermal water – the “Golden tap”, symbolizing the source of health. Thermal water temperature +34 °C
- Swimming pool. Classic swimming pool. Length 25 meters, water temperature 25 °C.
- Children’s pool. Shallow pool for children. Thermal water temperature +31 °C
- Yin-Yang pool. In each bath the time stay is no more than 20 minutes. Water temperature in the pools: +40 °C and +7 °C

Chany in Lumshory

Almost every Carpathian village has its own chany (“vats”). But few people know that the tradition of taking a hot vat bath originated specifically in Lumshory. In this small mountain village, located 45 km from Uzhhorod, healing sulfurous streams flow down the mountains, merging into the mineralized Turichka river.
The tradition of taking hot mineral water chany began in Lumshory long before chany became a popular pastime. Locals made wooden barrels, filled them with water from the streams, placed large boulders heated on a fire into them. Then they would soak, alternating sitting in hot water and plunging into the icy river.

Today the Lumshory chany tradition has practically not changed – the same healing water, the same heated stones, only instead of wooden barrels they use cast-iron vats with a fire lit underneath to heat the water. And now there is also infrastructure: dressing rooms, kolybas (traditional restaurants), hotels, so after the procedures you do not need to hurry home but can spend the night surrounded by beech forest. Sulfur water chany strengthen the immune system, rejuvenate the skin, calm the nervous system, and improve the musculoskeletal system.
Vat price for 4 people in Lumshory – from 1000 UAH / hour.

The “Zolota Gora” thermal resort is located in the village of Barvinok, two kilometers from Uzhhorod. Initially the hotel complex opened thermal pools for its guests, and then made them available to everyone.
By chemical composition and temperature, the water from the borehole belongs to hot siliceous–hydrocarbonate sodium waters of medium mineralization. The water composition is similar to that of the Bad Ems resort in Germany and Czech Teplice.
The resort includes five pools: a large outdoor thermal pool with a temperature of +29 °C, a small outdoor thermal pool with a water temperature of +39 °C, an outdoor children’s pool, a large indoor thermal pool where the water is slightly cooler at +26 °C, and a jacuzzi with hotter water at +34 °C. The territory has everything needed for comfortable thermal baths: changing room, toilets, showers.
