Top 10 budget Christmas markets in Europe 2025–2026: where to celebrate Christmas inexpensively

Christmas in Europe is a fairy-tale atmosphere, mulled wine, twinkling lights and Christmas trees in the squares. But is it possible to go to Christmas markets inexpensively? Yes! I have collected 10 budget destinations for celebrating Christmas 2025–2026 in Europe.

How to save money on your Christmas trip?

Buy tickets in advance – book your flights in September-October, because it’s more cheaper than in the last moment.

Avoid weekends and peak dates. If school allows you to skip a couple of days in early December, it’s better to visit the Christmas markets by December 24.

Book accommodation on the outskirts of the center – it’s convenient and budget-friendly. Transport in European cities runs on schedule and is quite comfortable.

Look for free attractions – ice rinks, choir performances, Christmas concerts.
