TOP-10 sea beaches in Poland for summer vacation

By the sea in Poland – the best resorts of the Polish Baltic, weather, interesting places and entertainment for adults and children.

The Baltic Sea is not as salty as the Black Sea, and the water is more like river water. In August, warm weather sets in on the Baltic Sea. The water in it sometimes warms up to a comfortable temperature of 20-23 degrees. This is the time when the sun finally shines, you can sunbathe and at the same time breathe the fresh sea air.

I can’t say that a vacation in the Baltic in August will be more budget-friendly compared to the resorts of Croatia or Turkey . Most Poles go on vacation alone in August. However, for those who currently live in Poland and cannot travel to other countries due to visa issues, this vacation is worth considering.

I traveled to Gdansk and the Baltic coast of Poland in August. Instead of hot Odesa, she found herself in the fresh air of the Hel Spit, breathing in the pine trees, walking along the sandy beaches and enjoying the fresh air.

Where to rest – a description of Polish seaside resorts

The five hundred kilometers of sandy beaches of the Polish Baltic are literally dotted with seaside towns and resorts. There is a huge selection of hotels, boarding houses and hostels that are pleasantly priced, despite the fact that July and August are the highest season here.

The main resorts on the Polish Baltic are Gdynia, Leba, Sopot, Jastrzębie Góra and Pogorzelica. In the towns of Kolobrzeg, Mędzyzdra, Swinoujscie and Ustca, you can combine a beach vacation with wellness. There is a wide range of sanatoriums with mineral waters and mud. As well as the sea spit of Hel, a 33-kilometer peninsula where the town of Hel and resort settlements are located. All of them share beautiful sandy beaches surrounded by pine forests that add flavors to the clean air.

1. Sopot is the most important resort in Poland

If we divide resorts into expensive and not so expensive, Sopot is the most famous and prestigious Polish resort. Here you can combine a beach vacation with a cultural program: go to the opera, concerts, music and film festivals. Sopot has large sandy beaches, a shallow sea, a park line and a walking path along which there is a park (it reminded me of the Odesa Health Trail ). A stop and a photo at the longest wooden pier in Europe with an observation deck is almost mandatory.

Tip: You can easily get to Sopot Beach from Gdansk by train – it takes 20 minutes on foot from the station.

In addition to swimming, you can also sit in one of the beach bars. Walk further along Monte Casino Boulevard, where you will see the famous Krzywy Domek, a twisted house that is one of Sopot’s trademarks. A unique attraction is the Sopot Lighthouse or the Forest Opera in the open air.

The beach in Sopot:

A 4.3 km long and over 100 m wide strip of golden sand with a gentle entrance to the sea is just one of Sopot’s attractions. The local beach, besides being really beautiful, is also very clean (which is confirmed by the Blue Flag). And because of the gentle entrance, it is also very child-friendly. In summer, there is a children’s pool, as well as inflatable rides and slides. There is also a cool water park in Sopot – kids will definitely like it.

Where to stay in Sopot:

  • Hotel Zhong Hua≫ – is a cottage hotel on the beach with access to the beach, beautiful rooms with balconies overlooking the sea.
  • Apartamenty Pod Sosnami≫ – very nice apartment in a nice building located in a quiet green area – nice for relaxing.
  • Hotel Testa≫ – Great location – just a short walk to the sea. An excellent breakfast and access to the spa are also included in the room rate.

2.Gdynia – a modern resort and cultural center

The seaside city of Gdynia is part of the so-called Tree-City (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia). This former fishing village has now turned into a modern port city and resort with vast sandy beaches. A romantic marina, modern buildings, many museums and scientific centers will appeal to those who don’t want to spend all their time on the beach and want to combine the sea with an interesting vacation.

Beaches in Gdynia:

The large beach in Gdynia is adjacent to the city’s piers – it is a large sandy triangle with plenty of space for relaxing at sea. In high season, there are quite a few people here. But if you don’t like crowds, take a walk along the promenade towards Sopot, where a very long beach surrounded by pine trees is located on Cape Klif Redłowski.

Where to stay in Gdynia:

  • Błękitny Żagiel≫ – The hotel’s location is good – by the sea. There is an in-house restaurant and a terrace overlooking the sea.
  • Grand Tulipan≫ – Great location in a picturesque place by the sea, very clean and very comfortable, good breakfasts.
  • Hotel Różany Gaj≫ – The hotel has its own access to the waterfront, rooms with gorgeous views from the window. Swimming pool with geysers, jacuzzi included in the price. Delicious coffee at breakfast.

3. Hel

The Hel Peninsula is rightfully one of the most beautiful in the world. Back in the seventeenth century, it was a matter of several separate islands that were gradually connected by sandy sediments from the Baltic Sea into a single whole. On its northern coast, there is a 1 km long and 30 m wide beach with dunes of fine light sand. The romantic landscape is complemented by the often windy weather, which attracts mostly windsurfers and kitesurfers.

Depending on which part of the braid you choose, this will be the rest. There is a town at the beginning of the spit Wladyslavovo – Here, vacationing is no different from neighboring resorts: infrastructure, 3-5-story buildings, shops. At the very end of the Hel Spit is a small village of the same name with cafes, restaurants, entertainment attractions for children and adults. At the end of the spit there is a pier where boats and boats from Gdańsk, Sopot, and Gdynia come, which means it is noisy and not cozy.

But in the central part of the braid, I think it’s just perfect. And in the middle there is a wonderful village called Yastarnya, surrounded on both sides by the sea and long beaches with pine trees, it’s very beautiful here. So on the Hel Spit you can live not only in hotels but also in cozy campsites. You can either live in a tent or in small family houses or campervans.

You can get here by car, train, or bicycle along the bike path and from Gdansk in high season in summer even by boat. From the bus stop you will walk through the woods past the stone lighthouse, near the beach you will also see the Kashubian Mound – an obelisk symbolizing the beginning of the Republic of Poland.

Beaches on the Hel:

Helska Kosa has wide beaches, a large selection of accommodation, entertainment, or vice versa – the opportunity to live in peace and quiet. Unlike the Gulf of Gdansk, where the sea warms up to +22℃, the sea here is cleaner and cooler. But it’s incredibly beautiful – 34 km of beaches, pine trees, air so thick and delicious that you want to cut it like a watermelon and eat it with a spoon.

Where to stay on the Hel:

  • Maloves Resort & Spa≫ – is a hotel located in the resort of Wladislavovo near the beach and the city center. Very good breakfast and spacious and clean rooms. There are spa services and a swimming pool. The bar on the 4th floor offers a magnificent panoramic view of the sea.
  • Apartamenty i Pokoje Gościnne Willa Dawid≫ – Comfortable and safe accommodation in Jastran near the beach. Clean and spacious rooms with all amenities.
  • Apartamenty WIKTORIA morska18≫ – Very nice and quiet place. There is a small beach across the street. A great place for peace and relaxation with children.

4.Świnoujście – the warmest Polish resort

The most popular and one of the largest beaches in Poland is surprisingly close to the Czech border. Świnoujście is located between the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Szczecin on the border with Germany.

Huge beaches, moving dunes, between which you can sometimes not even meet people. But in addition to seaside vacations, Poland offers many options for active recreation: visit various fortifications, take part in rafting on the Danube River. Or visit the most mysteriousGiant complex, built by Hitler’s order and abandoned after World War II.

There are also water slides, trampolines or water scooters, and you can play beach volleyball. Or go for a walk by the nearby Mlyny Pond or to the 19th-century Prussian fortress Gerhard. In Swinoujscie, at the Stawa Młyna lighthouse, try kitesurfing at the only kiteboarding, windsurfing and kitesurfing training center in Western Pomerania.

The beaches of Swinoujscie:

The beach is up to 200 meters wide in some places, and the sand is a beautiful golden color. The Baltic Sea here is the warmest in the whole of Poland (in the high season the water reaches 25-26 °C), and the area is proud of its environmental friendliness.

Where to stay in Swinoujscie:

  • Villa Cristal≫ – Very nice hotel near the beach in Swinoujscie. Nice and quiet location next to the park, easy self check-in, good breakfast, safe parking spaces.
  • ApartPark Apartament Albus≫ – comfortable apartments near the beach, parking is available near the building.
  • Radisson Blu Resort Swinoujscie≫ – location near the beach, excellent breakfast with many options. The hotel has a very nice children’s area where children can play and have fun. A nice water park for adults and children to enjoy during your stay.

5. Kolobrzeg – the largest resort in the Polish Baltic

Kolobrzeg is among the best resorts in Poland thanks to its beaches up to 100 meters wide. Perfectly clean sand, regularly awarded the Blue Flag, is combined with a variety of summer activities.

What are some interesting places in Kolobrzeg? You can alternate water sports such as scooter or boat rides with bike rides along the coast. Just 5 km from the resort, you will find the Dziki Zachód (Wild West ) amusement park in ZielonaÅ’evo.

If you’re looking for shade, just head to the resort park, which borders a significant portion of the coast and has one of the longest (2 km) and most beautiful promenades on the Baltic Sea. The old town of Kolobrzeg also encourages walking and visiting numerous cafes and restaurants.

The beaches of Kolobrzeg:

The Kolobrzeg coast is divided into the central beach (sometimes up to 90 meters wide), the western and eastern beaches. The most beautiful area with sand dunes is located on the western side of the mouth of the Parsenta River. And on the central beach you will see a 200-meter pier, a famous lighthouse, which is a symbol of the city, and a monument to Marriage with the Sea.

Where to stay in Kolobrzeg:

  • Jantar Hotel & SPA by Zdrojowa≫ – Clean, small hotel with delicious breakfasts and a great location near the beach. There is a private pool and sauna.
  • Olymp≫ – The hotel’s excellent location is a minute’s walk to the promenade, another minute to the park and a few steps to the beach. The hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious, and most importantly, they accept animals.
  • Seaside Park Hotel≫ – The hotel is located right next to the beach and a little further from the promenade, which is a positive point for those who do not like noise and crowds due to entertainment/nightlife/restaurants.

6. Trzęsacz – the pearl of the Raval coast

The Blue Flag, which is awarded annually for clean water, beaches, safety and amenities, makes the beach in Trzęsacz a small paradise on earth. The charming landscape is complemented by the ruins of a Gothic church, next to which stands a modern observation deck. You can ride along the edge of the cliff on horseback and then take off from its top to go paragliding or hang gliding.

Tip for families: in the neighboring village of Reval you will find many popular attractions for children. In particular, the Vieloriba Park, where they can take pictures with a 35-meter whale model, a shark model, and other marine creatures. A walk on the seaside narrow-gauge railway will also be a great experience and entertainment.

Beaches in Tšensács:

Like most beaches around Raval, Trzensacz also has a very gradual entrance to the sea. It’s about 200 meters long, but its intimate and romantic atmosphere will make you fall in love with it too. Be sure to come here in high season, when there is a beach bar with live music.

Where to stay in Trzensac:

  • Blow up Baltic Trzęsacz≫ – The apartment is new and very clean, with all the necessary amenities. The rooms offer sea views. The beach is a 3-5 minute walk from the hotel.
  • Pokoje Nad Klifem≫ – A beautiful, comfortable place in the heart of Trzęsacz, but in peace and quiet. A detached house on the back of the farm plot. From 10 meters from the house, you can enjoy a stunning view of the sea.
  • U SYLWI Domki Drewniane≫ – An ideal cottage complex for families with children or a group of friends by the sea.

7. Ustka is a paradise for amber seekers

Here, the Blue Flag is flown for the extraordinary cleanliness of the sand and sea. Due to hydrothermal phenomena over the harbor channel, dust falls on it and does not reach the beach. The coast of the Ustka resort is one of the places where the so-called “amber fishermen” search for amber settled on the bottom of the sea in winter. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Polish Championship in panning for the “gold of the Baltic Sea” is held here.

Beaches in Ustka:

The beach is a large strip of extremely fine sand that is constantly expanding. To the west of the harbor, you can see untamed sand dunes, and the coast is covered with pine forests, through which numerous trails lead directly to the sea. In addition to a number of kiosks and attractions for children, water and beach sports are also available on the beach in Ustka.

Where to stay in Ustka:

  • Zajazd Dajana≫ – The location is fantastic – by the sea, close to restaurants and bars. The rooms are clean and tidy.
  • Cristal Baltic≫ – The location is a great advantage of this place – a stone’s throw from the beach, nice room, everything new, high level of cleanliness, delicious breakfasts.
  • Aquarius Baltico Apartment≫ – the building is located in the city center, among beautiful villas and close to the park, the city center and the sea. Well-equipped apartment, with attention to detail; large and tall rooms; two separate rooms with TVs; washing machine, as well as lots of dishes, coffee machine.

8. Jarosławiec – artificial beaches on the Baltic Sea

Jarosławiec has beaches protected by breakwaters – artificially constructed stone “shoulders” stretching from the beach to the sea. In addition, this unique hydraulic structure protects the sea level in artificially created bays from wind and large waves. This also ensures that the water temperature is several degrees higher than in the colder Baltic Sea. In addition, due to the fact that the beach is built artificially, it is wonderfully clean.

Beaches in Jarosławiec:

Families with children will definitely appreciate the fact that there is a very gradual entry into the water without sharp stones. The resort is a bit smaller, but the quality is not far behind the larger seaside towns. Take a walk to the lighthouse or the Amber Museum and return to the beach at night to see it by nightlight.

Where to stay in Jarosławiec:

9. Leba – long beaches and moving dunes

Leba – is an unusual resort surrounded by water on three sides: The Baltic Sea, Lake Lebsko and Lake Sarbsko. Leba is called the “summer capital of Poland” – keep in mind that the beaches are packed to capacity during the season.

The Leba coastline is about 10 km long, of which 6 km are covered with beaches with the finest light sand. The landscape is complemented by rocks, as well as picturesque rolling dunes and fragrant pine forests. There are also many attractions near the beaches that make the vacation more enjoyable for families with children. Take a ride on the narrow-gauge railway, go karting or play on one of the many playgrounds.

TIP: You can admire the Lebske Dunes in the Slovenian National Park. The hills of golden sand reach a height of up to 40 meters and move at a rate of up to 10 meters per year. The sand absorbs the trees in its path, leaving only stumps behind. The landscape looks like a fairy tale, and the beaches of Leba are considered the most beautiful in the world.

Where to stay in Leba:

  • Plaża Resort≫ – A great hotel for a vacation: good location near the beach, large parking lot, very tasty food, fast service, clean room.
  • Hotel Nadmorski≫ – The hotel is very close to the sea. Also close to the city or shops. Not only breakfast, but also lunch and dinner are deliciously prepared here – ordering all-inclusive is very convenient for those who come on vacation with children and do not want to cook or spend time looking for restaurants.
  • Łeba Hotel & Spa≫ – The location is not in the city center, so it is calm and quiet – in the forest and close to the beach. The hotel has its own pool and spa.

10. Dębki beach – for clothed and nudists

If you choose a place to watch a romantic sunset, it’s definitely here. One of the most beautiful beaches on the entire Polish coast can easily compete with the beach gems of Greece or Croatia. The beach is surrounded by dense forest, beautifully “cleansed” from the bustle of the city and covered with soft, almost white, fine sand. The widest spots are over 100 meters, the beach is several kilometers long and offers plenty of space for relaxing and sunbathing.

Entry into the water is gradual, and in many places fishing boats are moored near the shore. And during the main summer season, you can try jet skiing or windsurfing.

Where to stay in Debki:

  • Pokoje Gościnne Konik Morski≫ – Despite the fact that the hotel is located on a very quiet street close to restaurants and shops, it is nice to sit on the balcony in the evening. The beautiful beach is a short walk through the forest.
  • Willa Ludwik SPA & Wellness≫ – The rooms, the building and the entire area are beautiful, aesthetic, clean and well maintained. Wide offer of breakfasts. Great location, very close to the beach and many shops and restaurants, but at the same time the room is quiet.

Entertainment and leisure on the Baltic coast of Poland

The main feature of Polish resorts on the Baltic is the opportunity to engage in active sports. And also visit various interesting museums, look at natural phenomena and ancient castles.

  • Along the entire coast there is a famous hiking trail “Piskom” – the popiasku.pl. Walking barefoot along the sea, or along walking paths in a pine forest, or along sand dunes is a challenge for different fitness levels.
  • You can rent a bicycle and pedal along the coast every day (rent from 10 euros per day).
  • There are many lighthouses along the coast, most of which can be visited for 1-2 euros.
  • Be sure to spend some time in Gdansk – wander through its narrow streets of the old town, breathe in the sea on the waterfront, look into churches and sit in cozy pastry cafes.
  • Take the kids to see the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park (Park Dinozaurow) in Leba (adult ticket: 15 euros, children’s ticket: 10 euros, children under 4 years old are free).
  • In Ustka, on the waterfront, there is a monument to Sirenka, which is somewhat reminiscent of the Copenhagen Little Mermaid.
  • In Gdynia, it is worth going to the Dar Pomorza Maritime Museum, where you can get on the deck of a real sailing ship (2 euros, children 1.2 euros).
  • In Leba, you can see a unique phenomenon – moving dunes, which are slowly moving at a rate of 3 to 10 meters per year. The dunes are gradually covering the forest, which was specially planted to contain the advance of the sands. Here is the largest dune on the coast, Mount Lomska, a huge sandbox 42 meters high and 5 km long. The dune can be reached only by specially laid trails – on foot, by bicycle or by eco-taxi (cost 5 euros per person one way).
