If you have a morning flight, or you need to change planes at night, or you decide to arrive early to make sure you catch your flight (because there may be queues at the border, or the train to another country from Ukraine may be late). It is better to take care of your overnight stay before the flight. In addition, most airports have chain hotels nearby, where you can spend the night comfortably and make your flight on time.
I have made a selection of hotels near the airports through which Ukrainians fly most often.
Advantages of staying at a hotel near the airport
Staying at an airport hotel is a good solution for people who have an early flight or a stopover in the city. Choosing this option has several advantages, such as less hassle and no worries about the road. Passengers staying at airport hotels don’t get caught in traffic, and they don’t have to worry about getting to the runway on time, as it’s a short distance away. In addition, these properties usually have the best amenities because they are located in a great location
Several times I have chosen hotels that are located within walking distance of the airport. Why?
Firstly, we had a morning flight – departure at 6 am. This means that check-in started 2 hours in advance, meaning that you had to be at the airport at 4 am (this was the case in Tangier, Morocco). And there was a budget Ibis hotel near the airport, from which we easily walked to the airport.
Secondly, it was also budgetary. To understand what exactly budget means, you need to look not only at the room rate, but also at how much a taxi costs if you go to the airport from the city.
Of course, most hotels can be expensive. But you choose less stress by deciding what is more important to you. Saving money or saving time. Traveling with less stress is also a plus.
Also, if you plan to, for example sleep on a bench at the airport to save money. Ask in advance if the airport is open at night. Not all of them work and you can just stay outside all night.
Hotels near Budapest Airport
Airport Budapest Airport is located on the outskirts of the city, near the Ferihegy railway station, which has several private guesthouses. There is also an ibis hotel around the airport, which offers standard rooms for a comfortable stay, as well as the possibility to leave the car in the parking lot.
- ibis Styles Budapest Airport – is a hotel located at the entrance to the international terminal of Budapest Airport.
- Szent László – is a guesthouse located near the bus stop of the 200E bus, which runs between the city and the airport (also at night). It takes 5 minutes to get to the airport. An inexpensive overnight stay in a cozy guesthouse, as well as a cheap way to get to the airport even at night.
- Altair Airport Apartman – apartments 10 minutes by taxi from the airport. Very cozy and inexpensive, it’s a nice place to relax before a flight.
Getting to Budapest Airport:
- From the center of Budapest, bus #100 runs to the airport every 10 minutes (except at night), with a fare of 1580 forints (about 3.5 euros). At night, you can take an Uber taxi (20 euros).
- Bus #200 runs to the Ferihegy station around the clock, and you can also take a train to Mukachevo from here (direct and with a change in Debrecen).
Hotels near Krakow Airport, Poland
In fact, there is a very good connection between Krakow and Krakow-Balice Airport by electric trains. But still, it’s extra time that would be more pleasant to spend in bed than running to the train station and driving 15 minutes to the airport. So here are some options for hotels near the airport.
- Hampton by Hilton Krakow Airport – is located 400 meters from the airport terminal. The price is not budget, but the service is from Hilton.
- Hilton Garden Inn Krakow Airport – is its chain neighbor, located even closer to the airport terminal, with slightly cheaper room rates.
- Pokoje Gościnne Pałac – To get to the airport quickly, you need to order a taxi (7 minutes on the way). But it’s a very nice area, and the prices are affordable.
Getting to Krakow Airport:
- The train from the main railway station – Kraków Główny to the airport – KRAKÓW LOTNISKO/AIRPORT, runs from 4:00 to 24:00 every 30 minutes. Travel time is 15 minutes and the cost is 2.9 Euros (PLN 14). Tickets are sold at the station ticket office or vending machine, or on the website kolejemalopolskie.com.pl. Access to the train directly from the main terminal.
- Buses #252 and #208 from the Dworzec Główny Wschód bus station (Bosacka 18). Also at night, starting from 23:25, night bus #902 runs every hour. The fare is €1 (PLN 4.6), and is valid for 2 fare zones. The ticket is purchased from a vending machine.
Hotels near Katowice Airport, Poland
Katowice Airport is located outside the city, but it is quite easy to get here by bus or train. If you have a morning flight, it’s easier to spend the night in hotels near the airport, as there is a wide range of choices. In addition to hotels, there is a residential sector with private houses near the airport. Each of them says that they rent out the plates and you can leave the car in the parking lot.
- Moxy Hotel – is the closest hotel to the airport, located opposite the terminal. It is very convenient to spend the night in a two-minute walk from the airport.
- Noclegi AirportPark – Separate clean rooms with entrance from the street. There is everything you need for such a stay: two beds (double and one and a half), a shower-toilet, a mini kitchen with a kettle, coffee and tea. The owner takes guests to the airport at 4 am for a fee of 25 zlotys. But you can walk 20 minutes on foot.
- Alda Gold – is a hotel within walking distance of the airport. Here you can not only spend the night, but also leave your own car in the hotel’s parking lot (for an additional fee).
Getting to Katowice Airport:
- There is a bus to the airport from the bus and train stations in Katowice 2 times an hour, and once at night. The bus platforms are located under the railway station, down the escalator right at the entrance. Bus to AR airport, platform 10 on the left. There is a scoreboard there. Tickets can be purchased from the driver for cash or at ticket machines with a card. The machines are located downstairs, where the platforms are. PLN 6.60 for adults and PLN 3.30 for children. The bus to the airport takes 50-55 minutes.
- There is a train from Katowice to the airport, and you can buy a ticket from a machine on the platform.
Hotels near Chopin Airport in Warsaw, Poland
If you’re planning a night layover or a morning flight at Warsaw Chopin Airport, it’s best to stay at a hotel near the airport. Nothing works in the city at night anyway, except for night transport. It’s especially great when you’re traveling with small children.
- Courtyard by Marriott Warsaw Airport and Renaissance Warsaw Airport Hotel – both hotels are located across the street from the airport.
- Hampton by Hilton Warsaw Airport – is 1 km from the airport, but it will be inconvenient to walk here.
- Tuyo Apartments Bokserska – apartments, very good for families, located opposite the airport, can be reached on foot or by taxi in 5 minutes.
How to get to Warsaw Chopin Airport:
- Airport is located on the outskirts of the city (you can get here by city bus #175, 188, 148, 331, and night bus #32).
Hotels near Bucharest Airport, Romania
There is a fairly wide range of accommodation near the Bucharest airport for those who need to spend the night before their flight. There are apartments and chain hotels – choose the price and quality you can afford. All hotels are located almost next to each other – across the street from the terminal building.
- Hilton Garden Inn Bucharest Airport – 700 meters from the airport.
- Vienna House Easy Airport Bucharest – across the street from the airport, with several hotels and apartments nearby.
- Travel Bucharest Airport Residences – is also very close.
How to get to Bucharest Airport:
- There are trains to Bucharest Airport from the train station. The schedule can be found on the website of the Romanian railways.
