- May: 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31
- June: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28
- July: 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26
As in 2025, the day trip fee will apply during peak hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Outside these hours, entrance is free.
Who does not have to pay the day visit fee to Venice?
The following groups are exempt from the tax:
- local residents and inhabitants,
- visitors born in Venice,
- students and workers,
- tourists who have booked hotels or other accommodation in island Venice (including the mainland areas of Marghera and Mestre).
The restrictions will apply only in the historic part of Venice for those tourists who come for one day. Exceptions – children under 14 years of age and people with a European disability card.
How much does a day visit to Venice cost
- The rate for last-minute visitors is 10 euros.
- If you pay the fee 4 days before visiting, the amount is 5 euros per person.
Where can you book a “ticket” to Venice
Visitors can “book” their day in Venice on a special platform.
Day tourists receive a QR code that is checked at checkpoints at seven access points throughout the city.
Visitors who have booked hotel rooms must enter their hotel information and receive a QR code to present at checkpoints. However, they do not need to pay, since their accommodation bill in Venice already includes the accommodation fee.
At key city locations, such as the Santa Lucia train station, official staff will check QR codes.
Why did Venice introduce a tourist tax?
The introduction of the tourist tax occurred after earlier this year Venice nearly avoided being added to the UNESCO list of sites at risk due to damage from overtourism to the city’s ecosystem.
The goal of the fee is to encourage visitors to avoid periods of heavy traffic and come on other days. “Our attempt is to make the city more livable,” he said at a press conference describing the pilot project.
At the end of the first test phase in July, officials announced that the tax amounted to 2.4 million euros, which is about 1,000 entrances on each of the test days.
