Most tourists come to Barcelona for the sea, Gaud\u00ed architecture, and the atmospheric streets of the Gothic Quarter. But if you love nature, beautiful panoramas, and hiking, then you should dedicate at least one day to Montserrat \u2013 one of the most impressive places in Catalonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is here, among the fantastic rock formations, that the famous Montserrat Monastery<\/strong> is located. And around it there are dozens of kilometers of hiking trails that allow you to see Catalonia from a bird’s-eye view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have at least three full days in Barcelona, I recommend dedicating one day to Montserrat. It will become one of the best adventures of your trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not confuse Montserrat with the Caribbean island of the same name. The Catalan Montserrat<\/strong> is located about 60 km northwest of Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name of the mountain range translates as “sawed mountain.” When you see it for the first time, it becomes clear why: hundreds of rounded rocks look as if someone carefully cut them out with a giant saw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is these unique rocks that made Montserrat one of the symbols of Catalonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting to Montserrat is quite easy even without a car. The most convenient way is to use public transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In just 5 minutes, the cabin will lift you to the monastery above the gorge and rocks. The views along the way are incredible, so many travelers choose this option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
