Rogoznica in Croatia is a true gem of the Šibenik Riviera. This coastal town, located just a few minutes’ drive from Primošten, is famous for its karst lake – Dragon’s Eye. In addition, it is a very beautiful resort for a seaside holiday. Its excellent beaches and lack of crowds make Rogoznica a wonderful peaceful place to relax.
The old town of Rogoznica is very compact, yet cozy and beautiful, with picturesque Dalmatian stone houses, romantic squares, inviting cafes and restaurants. Additionally, Rogoznica has numerous incredibly beautiful beaches that invite you to spend unforgettable vacation days by the sea.
If you are looking for a quiet seaside vacation and beaches in Croatia, I recommend considering Rogoznica.
Where exactly is Rogoznica located?

The municipality of Rogoznica, located between the well-known towns of Šibenik and Trogir, is actually in Central Dalmatia. Here, the Northern Adriatic separates from the Southern, which also affects the climate. There is a warm and pleasant Mediterranean climate here, perfect for enjoying Rogoznica’s beautiful beaches in summer. Besides the beaches, there is a large marina that creates a very stunning coastal panorama.
The most important attractions are considered the Dragon’s Eye lake – an oval salt lake directly beside the village, and the charming old town of Rogoznica, which is located on a green peninsula. The surroundings are also worth your attention! Thanks to the convenient location, you can go on numerous day trips. And from here, you can easily reach some of Croatia’s top sights: the town of Trogir, Primošten, the waterfalls of Krka National Park, and the city of Šibenik.

How to get to Rogoznica
The closest airport to Rogoznica is Split Airport, which is served by many regular and low-cost airlines. For example:
- Ryanair – from Vienna and Dublin.
- WizzAir offers more flights and destinations – from Poland (Gdansk, Katowice, Krakow, Lublin, Warsaw, and Wroclaw), as well as from London.
Buses run along the coast from the bus station in Split, but it is not as convenient as renting a car at the airport and having your own transport to travel to neighboring towns and national parks located near Rogoznica. It’s easiest to find the best car option, the lowest rental price, and the closest office to you – on the Rentalcars.
The roads in Dalmatia are good, well-marked, and easy to drive on. In the mountains and along rocky stretches of coastline, you need to be careful while driving, but the roads are built to standard. Throughout the region you will find parking spots (often paid in towns, free near remote beaches), gas stations, and everything you might need for a normal road trip.
Most apartments in Rogoznica offer free parking on their own premises or close to the accommodation.
When to visit Rogoznica

The best time to visit Rogoznica is from the beginning of June to the end of September. In these months, you can expect the best weather, plenty of sunshine, and relatively little rain. Also, most apartments start and finish hosting tourists precisely during this period.
July–August is the height of the seaside season, so prices during these months are higher than in June or September. Accommodation is also hard to find—you need to book in advance.
Beaches in Rogoznica
Beaches in Rogoznica — this is what people come here for on holiday. There are about 20 beautiful places for swimming and relaxing, located along the picturesque coastline, on the peninsula, and on the mainland near Rogoznica. Most coves are fine-pebble beaches, which give the sea transparency and beautiful colors. But I’ll focus on the best beaches in Rogoznica:
Miline Beach

Plaza Miline is one of the most popular beaches in Rogoznica because it is located in a bay next to the marina. This fine-pebble beach is located in the city center, next to the yacht marina, and delights with the wonderful colors of the sea and its cleanliness. The beach has a gentle slope, so it is also suitable for families with children.
Due to its immense popularity, there are always a lot of people here, though the beach strip is not wide and adjoins the road and parking lot, behind which there are children’s amusements, souvenir stalls, etc. It can be a bit noisy in the peak season, so for those who don’t like this it’s better to look for more secluded beaches.
A long promenade connects the beach with the old town—you can come here on foot or by car, as there is parking. In addition, here opens a wonderful view of the historic center, which you can enjoy while swimming in the clear water.
Apartments near Plaza Miline:
- Apartment Megi≫ – excellent apartments with two bedrooms and a balcony overlooking the bay. Located 100 meters from Plaza Miline beach.
- Marinela≫ – Very nice apartment, ideally equipped with everything you need. Good location, second row from the sea, close to shops and restaurants. The beach is a 2-minute walk away but it’s quiet enough here to relax.
Gornji Muli Beach

Gornji Muli Beach is a real gem among the most beautiful in Rogoznica’s bays. This picturesque fine-pebble beach is located on the Rogoznica peninsula and since it is a bit farther from the old town, it has an exceptionally peaceful atmosphere.
There is a quite wide beach strip and a gentle entrance to the water—kids will be comfortable. There are also classic Croatian pines by the beach, which provide pleasant shade and coolness on a hot day.
Accommodation near Gornji Muli Beach
- Apartmani Zvonko≫ – clean apartments with two bedrooms (one double and two single beds), private kitchen, and a small garden near Gornji Muli beach.
- Villa Salvia≫ – Excellent location, surrounded by vibrant green and blue colors, wonderful beach right in front of the accommodation. Everything is very clean! All amenities in the apartment. The apartment is located on the very edge of the sea. There were even sun loungers and an umbrella on the balcony that can be taken to the beach.
Plaza Sepurina

A beautiful and another popular beach highlight is Plaza Sepurina. This is one of the main beaches of the resort, very well suited for family holidays and children. The beach is pebbly and quite wide, with a gentle entrance, located in a large lagoon closed to the waves by two breakwaters—so there are almost no waves. The sea is therefore wonderfully clean and shines with the most beautiful turquoise blue colors.
Here you will find everything a vacationer’s heart desires: there are sunbed and umbrella rentals, excellent restaurants near the beach, beach bars. There is also a wide range of entertainment: water bikes, an inflatable castle and a children’s playground.
At the top part there is also a dog beach, ideal if you are traveling with your four-legged friend.
Accommodation near Plaza Sepurina
- Family friendly apartments with a swimming pool Rogoznica≫ – Located right by the sea and Plaza Sepurina beach. Beautiful view, private pool, umbrellas, sunbeds available for free (at the beach from 15 euros). There is a studio room and apartments—both have their own kitchen, you can cook yourself. There is free parking on site.
- Plaza Sepurina≫ – these apartments are located a little set back from the beach (50 meters), but it is a one-minute walk away. It is quieter and cozier here. Pleasant, cozy, clean, fully equipped apartment. Very friendly hostess.
Plaza Lozica

Further north, however, there are other large bays—one of the most picturesque is the bay and beach Plaza Lozica. The beach here is small, but the bay is charming, with a few pines providing some shade. The pines and fine pebbles are in the southern part of the bay, in the northern area there are slabs, which are also pleasant to relax on, but not suitable for holidays with children. With them, it is better to go to the pines—here the water entry is safer, the pebbles are finer and there is more shade.
Accommodation in Lozica Bay
- Apartments Luka≫ – Wonderful accommodation with direct access to the beach. The apartment is clean and well equipped. The balcony offers a beautiful view of the beach.
- Villa Lozica≫ – Excellent location, the beach is beautiful and very close to the house. At that time it is not very crowded here. The apartment is comfortable, and we especially like the terrace with a sea view.
Perla Beach

Perla beach is located next to the 4-star Hotel Perla – a great place for a peaceful vacation in Rogoznica. This white pebble bay is located a little away from the center, but it is easy to reach by the main road. As soon as you arrive, you will enjoy a picturesque pebble beach with clean sea and incredible water colors. Since mostly only hotel guests swim here, this beach is never crowded even in high season and is an excellent choice for a quiet holiday.
What to see and do in Rogoznica
Rogoznica is a true paradise for relaxation! During your visit, a wide selection of interesting and excursion destinations awaits you. Among the main attractions of the resort — Dragon’s Eye lake, the large yacht marina, the picturesque old town with a long promenade and, of course, countless stunning beaches. Here are Rogoznica’s most beautiful sights, summarized at a glance:
The Old Town and promenade

One of Rogoznica’s most important sights and, at the same time, the heart of the resort, is the historic old town. It is located on the Kopara Peninsula and is connected to the new part of the city by a dam. Especially beautiful are the numerous Dalmatian stone houses and winding streets, which give the city center an exceptionally charming look.

While walking along the palm-lined promenade, you can enjoy wonderful views of the bay and the marina on the opposite side. Especially in the morning, but also in the evening, tourists and locals gather in one of the many cozy cafes and good restaurants to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
There are several interesting sights, beautiful squares and small churches in the historical old town of Rogoznica. Worth noting is the parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This magnificent church, built in the 17th century, still stands at the highest point of Rogoznica and captivates with a breathtaking view.
Accommodation in Rogoznica’s Old Town
Despite the many cafes and restaurants in the Old Town, many tourists rent apartments to cook for themselves. I recommend the large Plodine supermarket with good prices for food and drinks, located on the highway before the entrance to Rogoznica.
- The Sun Terrace Apartment Rogoznica⋙ – the accommodation has a fantastic location – in the city center and just a few steps from the sea. Very clean and comfortable, well equipped kitchen, bathroom and rooms, including all TV channels.
- Old Mill≫ – An ideal peaceful place with a great view of the bay. The town is just a few hundred meters away. If you’re looking for a place to relax with history, this is the ideal option. The apartments are in an old mill but are modern and well equipped.
- Apartments Mediteraneo Rogoznica≫ – Apartments with a great location. You are in the city center but still slightly apart, so there is privacy. You can go out at any time and join the intense cultural life of the city. Beaches are nearby, with several to choose from. A great apartment for a holiday with friends or family.
Dragon’s Eye Lake

Dragon’s Eye Lake — also known as “Eye of the Dragon” or Zmajevo Oko, is a must-see. This is a very interesting natural phenomenon worth seeing and even swimming in while in Rogoznica. It is located just behind the marina, slightly up the hill, surrounded by rocky walls up to 24 meters high.
This impressive natural site owes its mystical name to its oval shape, as well as to the legend that a dragon lives in the lake. The depth of this blue lake is almost 60 meters, and the water level rises and falls with the tide. It is a karst cave connected to the sea—so seawater flows in, and the water in the lake is always clean.

What’s unique is that you can even swim in the Dragon’s Eye Lake. Stairs lead into the warm salty water, and small rocky ledges also attract bold cliff divers. It’s a wonderful experience you won’t forget. Although, because of the great depth, it can feel a bit intimidating when swimming.
Marina Frapa

Opposite the historic center of Rogoznica is Marina Frapa. This huge marina is one of the most beautiful and modern in Croatia. Walking along the promenade, you are amazed by the large number of luxury yachts and sailboats that drop anchor here, in this marina. The restaurants and bars are also excellent, where you can enjoy Croatian delicacies served in a wonderful setting with a view of the old town.

There is also an interesting “copy” of the Rialto Bridge, which is located in Venice. But unlike the historical landmark, it is modern and delicately metallic on top, almost airy—or at least, that’s how it looks.
Blue Bay – Blue Lagoon

Near Rogoznica there is a very beautiful area—the Blue Lagoon, where there is no beach (only rocky). But it is very beautiful—yachts and boats often stop here. We walked to the lagoon on foot; an easy path leads here, along which people come to look at the lagoon and swim in the calm water.
Punta Planka (Ploča)

This beautiful cape is located between Rogoznica and the town of Primošten, we got here by car. If you love wild coasts—this place may amaze you. As it impressed us. Rocky shores, in the distance on a small islet we saw a small lighthouse. And right on the shore stands a small chapel, open to all. A very atmospheric place, which I recommend for a visit.
